In 1959 Sandy Coveyduck worked for Russel-Hipwell in Owen Sound, ON. During that time he built the Hull of Velma Linda on his own and had it shipped up to Orient Bay by Rail. Because he used Russel-Hipwell design to build the hull, he had to register it as Russel-Hipwell built. Gordon was Sandy's son, and died a little over a year ago, hence the sale, I am assuming. Here are their obituaries, which were published in the Hamilton Spectator...
Dec 05, 2013. COVEYDUCK, Sandy John With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Sandy, at the age of 91, on Dec 05, 2013. Sandy was a World War II Navy Veteran who served 6 years in active duty. He leaves his son Gord (Lee Ann), his three grandsons Shane (Lauren), Brodie and Andrew and his best friend and companion Madeleine. Predeceased by his wife Velma, his wife Doris, his sister Muriel and his daughter Linda. Sandy loved his time on Lake Nipigon where he ran a charter fishing business for 60 years and he took his last party out at the great age of 86. His humour, his generosity and his love of nature will not be forgotten. As per Sandy's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Family and friends are welcome to drop by Gord and Lee Ann's home.
Apr 11, 2017. COVEYDUCK, Gordon It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Coveyduck of Dundas on April 8, 2017 age 68 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He had by his side his loving wife Lee Ann and his three sons who he was so very proud of- Shane (Lauren), Brodie (Melissa) and Andrew (Topaz). Gord is also remembered by his cousin Paul Mason (Joanne) who was like a brother to him, his brother-law Layton Dean, his cousins Vivian Stirling and Karen Welch, Aunt Blanche Cornwell, family friend Madeleine Turbide, and all of Lee Ann's side of the family who Gord was so very close to.
He was predeceased by his parents Velma and Sandy, his sister Linda Dean and father-in-law Ronald Hall. Gord was an amazing dad who loved watching his sons in their sports, taking them fishing, travelling with them and as they got older he looked forward to getting together with his boys for monthly breakfasts. Gord had a love for boats and fishing and had many great memories as Captain of his boats with the last 10 years on Lake Nipigon taking out fishing charters. He was also fortunate to travel to many of the places on his life list and he is now able to leave so many of those lasting memories with his wife Lee Ann. Gord took his diagnosis with courage never complaining and always appreciating that he had as many wonderful years as he did.
