Yves Cloutier notes: The Joe Denoncourt photographed at Grandes Piles in 1998, in black and white.... Denoncourt is in front of an unknown boat, probably a Russel, the Nikauba and The Piles far behind. Steven Morris, (Manager, Geographic Branches ACDI / CIDA 200, promenade du Portage Gatineau (Québec) K1A 0G4) notes: I worked as a summer student with the Compagnie de Flottage du St-Maurice from approx 1882/83 to 1987. It's nice to see photos of many of the boats I worked on in La Tuque, Grandes-Piles and Shawinigan. The little boat between the Jos Denoncourt and the Nikauba is the Hope. I spent many hours on her chugging up and down the river. Captain when I was there was Clément Gélinas, and his son worked with us too.
